Who I am

Hi and welcome! I'm En Ting from DCHE/FT/2B/04 Group 2, and I'll be documenting my work for CP5070 Chemical Product Design & Development (CPDD).

Quick introduction about myself, I use creative & sometimes crazy approaches to solve a problem :) I'm passionate about gaining new knowledge to be more competent. I really like this quote by Jerry Rice, an American former professional football wide receiver.

"Today I will do what others won't, so tomorrow I can accomplish what others can't" - Jerry Rice

3 Personal Goals that I wish to achieve by this semester for CPDD:

✔ Operate laser cutter confidently✂

HOW? Learning how to operate the laser cutter is easy to achieve as there is a practical session and competency test about laser cutters whereby we have to write the SOP of using the universal laser cutter & pass the test so that we can use the cutter by ourselves with supervision. I believe with ample time for me to try and practice I can master the skills similar to mastering the skills to operate 3D printers.

✔ Programming💻

HOW? Similar to my previous goal of the laser cutter, I can achieve this skill through the upcoming tutorial lessons and existing programming videos from the internet.

✔ Create a chemical device that could elevate our standard of living😄

HOW? With the knowledge gained from ICPD & CPDD, I could create a more realistic and functional chemical device.

From ICPD, I learned how to search for creditable literature reviews to further my knowledge of the area that my group was working on, skills required for simple prototyping such as 3d printing & cardboard and relevant mechanisms to make our chemical device workable.

From CPDD, I will learn more hands-on skills to help me to create a prototype with more functionality than a cardboard prototype back in ICPD. These skills include laser cutting, Arduino programming and how to conduct hypothesis testing. I believe there are more skills that await for me to learn... but for now, I could only list these few.

By the end of this semester, I should be more competent in terms of technical skills (3d printing, programming & laser cutting) and soft skills (analytical thinking, communication & troubleshooting). All the skills that I have acquired so far from ICPD & CPDD will be a valuable asset for my upcoming internship and capstone project.
